best price for this item. assembly is kind of hard with one person and some of the pre machined holes were oval instead of round n make sum parts if the construction difficult. overall worth the money, but not an high end piece.

some of the holes are oblong, instructions are kinda vague, wood pegs fit way too loosely in holes and glue was very old and useless.

As other posts have noted, the wood is a very deep, dark cherry almost mahogany - darker than it may look in the picture. This complimented my existing cherry furniture very well. The wood of the bookcase is very solid and sturdy - great quality. I would buy this again.

I was hoping the shelves would hold more books, but they (we bought 2) look nice in our living room. However, one of the units arrived with fairly significant damage, which we didn't realize until it was 90% put together.

Much darker than in picture- almost a dark espresso finish. It really is hardwood, no laminate. It's very nice, looks great, easy asembly, a great bargain.
